BuzzFlash.com's Review (excerpt)
Advance Order.

Henry Kissinger said that Daniel Ellsberg was the most dangerous man in America and had to be stopped. Why, because as this extraordinary Academy Award nominated documentary shows, Ellsberg revealed the truth about the Vietnam War and the lies of the Pentagon and White House to the American People.

Through BuzzFlash, we have gotten to know Daniel Ellsberg a bit, and he is one of the rarest of people, a whistle blower of conviction who is also down to earth; a person of conviction who still is arrested from time to time for standing up for what is moral and ethical.

While watching the riveting and well-made "The Most Dangerous Man in America," it became clear that Ellsberg is an all to rare hero: a person who believed wholeheartedly in war but who dramatically changed his conviction when exposed to the facts. Ellsberg chose to exposed the damning "Pentagon Papers" with his colleague, Tony Russo, because he had become convinced that the propaganda for the Vietnam War had little resemblance to the reality on the ground. He chose life and ethics over death and lies.

Ellsberg's voice is with you throughout the documentary, candid, firm and committed to doing the right thing. The film is part exploration of his character, part history, and part a fascinating thriller.

It was a different time when Ellsberg got the Washington Post and New York Times to publish the Pentagon Papers. First of all: they would never do that now, even if the Patriot Act weren't passed that would no doubt be invoked to prevent them from doing so. The Time and Post have become much too much a part of the status quo of power in D.C. -- and they wouldn't want to "ruin" their sources.

Ellsberg stands out as a man who was changed by the circumstances that he encountered in a career that spanned service in the military and at the highest levels of Southeast Asia foreign policy, practically the research point person on the War in Vietnam under Kissinger.

His is the story of a rare man, someone who evolved and knowingly took the risk of spending his life in jail in order to save lives and expose a government that had betrayed its citizens.

For him, it was a logical outcome of being exposed to the truth. For most Americans in government today, it's hiding the truth that gets one promoted.

In a curious side note, Ellsberg only avoided being sentenced to a long prison term because of court related issues that arose relating to Nixon's plumbers' unit and suppression of WH illegal activity by the DOJ prosecution.

In the end, this film will provide you with the backbone you need to face moral dilemmas with the kind of deliberative certitude of Daniel Ellsberg.

The guy is a patiot and a mensch. He took the rare risk of changing his opinion because of new facts that he became aware of, and not trying to change the facts to fit into a pre-conceived opinion. He had the courage to become transformed by reality.
